In a significant move to streamline the entrance examination process, the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test - CET, Cell has announced a major policy shift for the 2026 academic session. For the first time, candidates appearing for the MHT CET will be issued two separate admit cards. This change is designed to align with the newly adopted two-attempt format, offering students greater clarity and organised access to both examination sessions.
Under the revised guidelines, students who opt to sit for both attempts of the entrance test will no longer rely on a single hall ticket. Instead, the CET Cell will release individual admit cards for each session. The first admit card will be Provisional and is expected to be released alongside the city intimation slip. This ensures that candidates have ample time to verify their details and locate their assigned centres.
The introduction of two attempts is a student-centric measure aimed at reducing stress and allowing candidates to improve their performance. For those participating in both sessions, the authorities have confirmed that the best score out of the two attempts will be considered for the final admission process.
This year has also witnessed a record-breaking surge in interest. Total registrations have reached a staggering 11.24 Lakh. Specifically, the PCM group saw 7,60,981 registrations, while the PCB group recorded 3, 81,629 applicants. This rise highlights the growing competitiveness of engineering and pharmacy admissions in Maharashtra. Candidates are advised to regularly monitor the official website, http://cet.mahacet.org/, to download their hall tickets using their login credentials.
