The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has postponed the release of admit cards for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026. The JAM 2026 exam, delivered entirely via computer, is locked in for 15 February and will run in two sittings: morning, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and afternoon, 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. This examination functions as the entry point for MSc as well as MSc-PhD dual degree courses at institutions including IITs, IISc Bengaluru, NITs, and IIITs. Once released, applicants will need their login details to obtain the admit card.
JAM candidates face a paper structured with 60 multiple choice questions, altogether worth 100 marks. Results are expected on 20 March. That announcement will begin the process for MSc admissions across key Indian higher education institutions.
Breaking down the format: Section A consists of 30 questions, Section B features 10, and Section C contains 20 questions. Test time totals three hours. Marking approaches differ by section. Section A imposes penalties for incorrect responses; Sections B and C do not penalize wrong answers.
All questions are delivered online. In Section C, possible answer options are not displayed. Marking in Section A is stringent: an incorrect answer to a one-mark item costs one-third of a mark; for two-mark questions, a wrong answer subtracts two-thirds of a mark. These rules signal a strict evaluation structure.
